NODAC 2008 conference materials
2011
Graphic Design, Print Design, Web Design
I was selected to design all of the printed marketing materials and corresponding website for the 2008 annual national NODAC conference run by the National Orientation Directors Association (NODA). This national conference highlights the amazing work of orientation professionals across the nation and offers opportunities to share experiences, socialize, and advocate for students.

My role included designing a postcard, registration mailer, and conference program. A companion website was also launched that offered continual updates both prior to and during the conference.

Accomplishments:

- Significantly reduced the number of pages in the conference program compared to previous years (saving paper)
- Able to introduce a 2-color design throughout the conference program while staying within budget (previously only black was used throughout)
- While reducing the size of the conference program, I was able to include more information than past programs in an easier-to-understand manner through well thought out design choices.
- Able to maintain a consistent theme throughout all materials
- Was told by a conference attendee the materials were the best she's seen in her 15 years of attending the conference

This series of publications won an Inhouse Design Award from Graphic Design USA magazine.

  • 1x10: The First-Year Experience at Rensselaer
This 72-page book documents and presents ten years of the "first-year experience" at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), a top-tier research university in upstate New York. Outlining the history of freshmen experiences over time, the book expands on the creation of the Office of the First-Year Experience and the changes that took place from 2001-2011. It also catalogues themes, marketing materials, and t-shirts

My role included research, writing, photography, design, and print management.

Printed digitally, the book can be customized for varied audiences (marketing, advancement, fund raising, etc.).

  • Becky + Jeff wedding
Becky and Jeff were married in September, 2011 at the beautiful Lake George Club in upstate New York. The save the date postcard reflects their fun and playful side while giving a hint of what was to come at the ceremony (they were married on the dock!). The invitation follows with a more formal style, while continuing the use of the two Adirondack chairs.

The postcard was offset printed on uncoated stock. The invitations were offset printed with a silk finish on the card as well as a gloss spot finish on the Adirondack chairs. The remaining pieces of the invitation were all uncoated and either offset or digitally printed.

Coordinating envelopes (not shown) were also completed for this project.

  • WAMC Media Kit
WAMC/Northeast Public Radio is a major public news radio network based in upstate New York. With a signal that reaches seven northeast states, WAMC is a regional giant that broadcasts NPR, Public Radio International, and locally-based programming.

This project was completed as part of my senior capstone course. I redesigned WAMC's older, outdated, one-color media kit into something more modern, marketable, and in a format that was easier to edit.

The final project included a pocket folder, two booklets, and a number of one-sheets for information sharing to potential underwriters.

  • Student Orientation themes
I either designed or directly managed all the concepts from 2005-2010 for Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute's Student Orientation program.

Concepts from 2005-2009 were all national award-winning designs from the National Orientation Directors Association. One piece from the 2010 campaign won on the national level from Graphic Design USA magazine.
